Workshops are designed for beginner to intermediate standard photographers. One to one workshops can be tailored to focus on areas the photographer would like to improve on. I can’t guarantee that you’ll come away from the workshop with portfolio quality images - the light on the day will dictate that, but you will learn some of the skills to get those epic shots when the conditions are perfect.
We will look at choosing locations based on weather conditions, making plans based on tides and sun position. Useful apps to help with the planning process. Topics include the basics of camera settings…shutter speeds, aperture, ISO settings. Autofocus vs manual focus, metering modes and the use of RAW vs Jpeg images
In the field we will look at choice of viewpoint, lens choices and composition. Use of a tripod to ensure maximum sharpness. Choice of exposure settings, bracketing, focus bracketing and focal length bracketing. The use of filters to achieve the correct shutter speed to capture motion blur, and the importance of the polarising filter.
Finally, we will look at post processing using Lightroom for basic exposure and colour correction, the use of masks for local adjustments. We will look at exporting images to Photoshop for more advanced editing, adjustment layers with masks, focus stacking and the basics of luminosity masking.
